The
Boundary Commission for England have issued draft proposals for new
Parliamentary constituencies.
They propose splitting Formby
in two for the first time in its history. Should half the people of
Formby have one MP and half another? One covering bits of Kirby,
Crosby, Bootle and Maghull, the other based in Southport?
The Liberal
Democrats propose that Formby should be kept together and included in a
single new Parliamentary constituency with Altcar, Aughton, Ormskirk
and other parts of West Lancashire. Formby and Ormskirk were part of
the same constituency for most of the 20th century.

Residents
of
Formby have until 5th December to make their views known. Help us send
a clear message to the Boundary Commission by signing our "Don't split
Formby" petition either online or by downloading a printable copy.
Others who have spoken out to keep Formby together include local
councillors Gill Cuthbertson (Independent), Barry Griffiths
(Conservative) and Catie Page (Labour).
